MANILA, Philippines — Fresh and healthy meals during Christmas parties will make the holiday season enjoyable for Filipinos, according to the Department of Health.
The DOH has advised the public to avoid overeating, especially foods high in sugar, fats and oil.
Check the expiration date of ingredients and ensure that the food is cooked properly, the agency said.
Leftover food should be kept in the refrigerator to prevent spoilage and contamination, the DOH said.
Minors, pregnant women and drivers should avoid consuming alcoholic drinks, it added.
The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) issued the same reminder, stressing that blood sugar levels may rise due to the consumption of many sweets.
“Register with PhilHealth Konsulta to avail yourself of services and medicines for diabetes,” the state health insurer said.
Exercise regularly and avoid smoking to maintain weight and blood pressure at normal levelsarenaplus, PhilHealth said.
